Those who know me might know I'm a big fan of Jillian Michaels. Not only are her workouts killer and amazing, but I find her to be an incredibly inspiring human being.
One of my favorite Jillian quotes is something she says during the cooldown in the first week's workout on the Ripped in 30 DVD: "Transformation is not a future event—it is a present activity."
I don't know about you guys, but sometimes it's so easy for me to get down on myself and my life because it's not everything I want it to be. There are things I thought I would have accomplished by now that I haven't. There are things I've always wanted to do that I haven't done yet. And it's easy to get depressed and think myself a failure because my life isn't exactly what I pictured.
It's so easy to say that we don't have control over something, to say we need to wait until the time is right, until the stars align. But when we do that, we don't work on moving forward. We don't work on changing things from the way they are to the way we want them to be. We're waiting for transformation to happen on its own and if we do that, we'll never be transformed.
Lately, I've been working on bringing Jillian's quote on transformation into every aspect of my life. Sure, things might not be what I'd like them to be right now, but am I working on making them happen? If I can answer that question with a "yes," then I'm happy. I'm not going to beat myself up because I can't make it happen overnight. But if I answer that question with a "no," then I need to look at what I can do to change that answer. Every day, I will make working strides towards where I want to be. Every day, I will work on transforming into the person I want to be.
